Tuesday, June 05, 2007 - This Week in Cavan

I've been busy over the past week, though maybe not quite as busy as my absence might suggest. Most of the past week has been spent working, looking for a job that'll actually pay the bills, trying to have a social life on a tight budget and, of course, watching hockey and endlessly analyzing every last facet of each game. The mood here last night was, for the first time since April, sombre and quiet.

Also, I've been working my way through the submissions for issue two of Fusion Fragment. So far, I've picked up two of the three stories I need for it, so I'm still on the lookout for one more piece of good fiction.

Finally, one note to writers: If you're writing something that shifts between past and present in your story's chronology (ie. flashbacks), make damn sure that each time period is clearly delineated. One of the stories I rejected was extremely well-written in every other aspect, but the chronology was jumbled enough that it was difficult to follow. So, if you're writing something like that, make sure you give it to someone else with fresh eyes before sending it around.
