As is usually the case, those poets of the pop music world have already put it perfectly: "If you love something, set it free." (who was that? The Beatles?) Well, that's kind of what I've done with writing over the past year -- with a couple of relapses, like finishing a short story and writing a chapter of Mass Romantic -- but aside from that, there's been zero writing. If you're familiar with that quote, you know that if it doesn't come back, you never had it to begin with, but if it does, you've got to love it forever. And here I am, so you can connect the dots. A thought occurred to me recently, that my fiction writing and blogging are inextricably linked. And not simply because I largely blog about writing -- it's more fundamental than that. When I'm not writing, I don't much feel like blogging. And when I'm not blogging, I don't much feel like writing. It's a vicious cycle, one that reached its peak a year ago, when I packed it in altogether. With any luck, coming back to blogging will help me come back to writing. In the meantime, I've become increasingly comfortable wearing the editor's hat. The seventh issue of Fusion Fragment went online today and a third release from Apodis Publishing is due out sometime in January. But it doesn't always compare to writing something yourself. Hello, blog. It's nice to be back.
