The sharp-eyed reader will notice that my alternate history story is gone from the sidebar. It was going nowhere, so I was forced to kill it. Sad, but necessary. Anyhow, as so often happens, something new rose out of the ashes of that story. The new story, which I'm calling "Learning Magic From Mint", is something of a departure from the norm for me. Generally, my lead characters/narrators are disaffected loners. This time around, it's a little kid. Obviously, this means that my narrative voice (which I think is one of my strong points as a writer) is a far cry from what it has been in my other stories. Over the past two days I've written roughly a third of the story and chances are I'll have it completed within a week's time. In the meantime: Is anyone else sick of David Blaine? I mean, the guy's card tricks are among the coolest things I've ever seen. But what's with all these stunts? He should stick to the cards, frankly.
